Cowra Shire Council and the Cowra Natural Resource Management Advisory Committee are proud to be hosting the 2014 Futures Forum, Sustaining Regional Communities.

“It is rare to have access to a range of such high-calibre speakers right here in the Central West, including our keynote speaker Amanda McKenzie, CEO of the Climate Council,” John Rankin, Chairman of the Cowra Natural Resource Management (NRM) Advisory Committee said.

“The presentation by Director of proAGtive Pty Ltd and NSW Rural Woman of the Year for 2013, Isobel Knight, also promises to be a highlight as she discusses sustaining the human element in rural communities through her work in family business succession.”

Topics covered at the one day Forum will include the co-operative funding model for wind turbines at the proposed Flyers Creek wind farm and how Victorian communities are looking to stand-alone power solutions to buy back their local electricity grid to operate their own energy supply.

“We’re also delighted to welcome back Cowra’s 2014 Australia Day Ambassador and Chief Meteorologist for SKY NEWS, Dick Whittaker for the event, who will be presenting his very own ‘Forum Weather Report’, “Mr Rankin said.

Registration for this exciting one day conference includes a breakfast of local produce provided by Cowra Public School P&C and a tasting of local wines at the end of the day.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit stalls in the conference expo throughout the day.

Hosted by Cowra Council and the Cowra NRM Advisory Committee, the 2014 Futures Forum – Sustaining Regional Communities conference is being held on Friday 2 May 2014 at the Cowra Showground Pavilion. Registration for the day is $55.
