Community Energy Efficiency Program (CEEP)

Centroc has been successful in obtaining funding from the Australian Government as part of the Community Energy Efficiency Program in both Rounds 1 and 2.

Round 1 – LASEEP

The Central NSW Councils (Centroc) Learning and Sharing Energy Efficiency Program aims to deliver both substantial energy savings while introducing advice and measures for Councils to embed ongoing activity in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Engaging industry and the community throughout this program using researched communication tools enables further understanding and action for the Centroc region.

Activities undertaken in this program include installations of:

  • LED lights
  • Solar Pool heating
  • Pool pump and heat exchanger replacement
  • Power factor correction
  • Soft starters and electric motors
  • Refrigeration/freezer upgrades
  • Ceiling fans
  • Gas hot water
  • Motion sensors for lights
  • Zip water heaters
  • Air conditioning upgrades

Round 2 – Nexus Between Water and Energy

The Centroc Water Utilities’ Alliance (CWUA) Nexus Between Water and Energy Program aims to deliver both substantial energy savings while introducing advice and measures for member Councils to embed ongoing activity in reducing greenhouse gas emissions through a regional program that will increase the energy efficiency of water and sewer assets by reducing the pumping load at treatment plants.

Activities undertaken in this program include:

  • Audit of water treatment plant in Boorowa
  • Nexus between energy and water management plan and toolkit and capacity building workshop
  • Sewer infiltration program to reduce system infiltration  and energy usage by sewer pumps
  • Installations of voltage optimization and variable speed drives at the water filtration plant in Orange to improve energy efficiency of pumps.

These activities received funding from the Australian Government as part of the Community Energy Efficiency Program.
